Sublimation printing on upcycled textileroll
A project by Janni Marie Andersen and VAER.
Janni about the project: "In connection with my education (VIA Design & Business) I have, based on VAER's project, designed a textile collection within upcycled textiles from used duvet covers. The collection takes inspiration from the different states of water, which through the blue/greenish colors and pattern composition, create a feeling of peace and tranquility. To best overcome the challenges of the unstandardized textiles, I chose to use sublimation printing."
VAER about the project: "We see a big potential in upcycled textiles replacing some virgin textiles - BUT, there are many challenges when it comes to working with an upcycled textile roll (which is why we are doing a big development project on it at the moment together with VIA University College). Especially when we had to find the best dyeing/printing methods, it was difficult due to the duvet colors being a mix of polyester and cotton, and the composition varying depending on how many times the duvet covers have been washed. Janni worked so well with this challenge, and we are so excited about the results she has been able to produce."
